Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are a common and often recurring problem for women. Research shows that nearly 50–60% of women will experience at least one UTI in their lifetime. After reviewing the science and seeing the positive clinical evidence, we trusted Bellawell’s Urinary Tract Support so very much that we decided to offer it as part of our carefully curated selection of Akasha Naturals products to help support our patients’ urinary tract health naturally.
Bellawell’s Urinary Tract Support supplement offers a natural, science-backed approach to reducing the risk of UTIs and supporting overall urinary wellness.
Key Ingredients & Their Science-Backed Benefits:
1. D-Mannose (1000 mg per serving):
D-Mannose is a type of sugar that plays a key role in preventing E. coli bacteria—the most common cause of UTIs—from adhering to the urinary tract lining.
Clinical Evidence:
A 2014 randomized controlled trial published in the World Journal of Urology found that D-Mannose was as effective as the antibiotic nitrofurantoin in preventing recurrent UTIs over 6 months, with fewer side effects.
(Kranjčec B et al., 2014)
2. Cranberry Juice Powder (150 mg per serving):
Cranberries are rich in proanthocyanidins (PACs), compounds known to reduce bacterial adhesion to the bladder wall.
Clinical Evidence:
A 2012 meta-analysis published in Archives of Internal Medicine found that cranberry products significantly reduced the risk of UTIs, especially in women with recurrent infections.
(Jepson RG et al., 2012)
3. Hibiscus Extract (100 mg per serving):
Hibiscus is known for its antibacterial and diuretic properties, helping to flush the urinary tract and potentially inhibiting the growth of uropathogenic bacteria.
Scientific Note:
A 2010 study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology showed hibiscus extracts possess strong antimicrobial effects against bacteria commonly involved in UTIs.
(Mounnissamy VM et al., 2010)
4. Dandelion Root Extract (100 mg per serving):
Dandelion has been traditionally used as a natural diuretic, helping to increase urine flow and reduce bacterial load in the bladder.
Herbal Medicine Tradition & Preliminary Evidence:
While large-scale human trials are limited, traditional herbal texts and some preclinical studies support dandelion’s urinary health benefits.
