Exciting Possibilities. Thoughtful Medical Care.
Peptide therapy has taken the country by storm, and with good reason. Research into peptides is opening exciting possibilities in medicine, from metabolic health to other areas of treatment and recovery. But as with any new and promising medical approach, enthusiasm needs to be accompanied by good science and sound medical judgment.
Not all peptides are created equal. Some, such as insulin and the newer GLP-1 medications, have been extensively studied and are FDA-approved for specific medical conditions. Others are still being investigated, and we have much more to learn about their benefits and long-term safety. At Akasha, we believe that excitement about new treatments should always be balanced with sound medical judgment, careful patient evaluation, and close attention to the quality and source of any medication prescribed.
That's why we take the time to understand each patient's medical history, individual needs, and health goals before recommending any treatment. Our priority is to make informed decisions based on the available scientific evidence, with patient safety always at the forefront.
We are especially pleased to welcome Shelby Wakeman, Nurse Practitioner, who brings a special focus and expertise in peptide therapy to Akasha. With her knowledge of this rapidly evolving field, Shelby will work closely with Dr. de Mello and our integrative medical team to carefully evaluate each patient's medical history, health concerns, and personal goals. Together, they will determine whether peptide therapy is appropriate and, when indicated, develop an individualized treatment plan grounded in the available scientific evidence, with safety and ongoing medical supervision as priorities.
