Why GI Align?
Gastrointestinal (GI) health is determined by intestinal permeability, which is how nutrients pass through the intestinal wall. When permeability is too large, undigested food particles, toxins and bacteria may pass through the intestinal wall and be absorbed by our bodies. Our bodies may recognize these particles as foreign and trigger an inflammatory and immune response. This condition is often referred to as “leaky gut” or inflammatory bowel disease (IBS)
The integrity of the intestinal mucosal lining is vital in regulating the permeability (barrier) of the intestinal wall. Glutamine serves as metabolic food for the cells that line the intestines and helps reduce over permeability.

Other ingredients in GI Align, such as Slippery Elm, Marshmallow root and N-Acetyl Glucosamine also help with the mucous secretions to support the protective barrier of the intestinal wall.The fibers in GI Align (Citrus Pectin and Prune Powder) are essential for GI health because they help with elimination of waste and toxins. In addition, they are fermented by bacteria in the gut to produce compounds that are used for the production of the mucosal lining.
Aloe Vera aids with GI disorders because it contains mucilage polysaccharides and numerous antioxidant compounds that help soothe the mucosal lining and regulate the inflammatory activity within the colon and small intestine. Zinc Carnosine and DGL help maintain the integrity of the gastric mucosal lining by supporting healthy mucus secretions and a stable gastric bacterial environment.
